I did it

I haven't been around because I've been crazy. But I did it. I got a job. I think it may be perfect, and still allow me time to translate for my favorite clients in the morning. I must admit that the best part of getting this job was the idea that I beat out several other candidates. Candidates who were younger, without children, who had resumes full of the last fifteen years working in America. When I said this to my son, he exclaimed, "Che pensiero, mamma!" I'm usually nicer than that. But I just couldn't help it. I felt like boasting.

And celebrating.

Break out the bubbly it is party time!! Congrats Darlin'! I know it will do you good to start flexing those work muscles again! But beware that it never goes as smoothly as you would like and there will be a whole different class of frustrations you will be facing! But yes, it does the ego good to be wanted and feel you can contribute something. And it helps to get over the mindset of being "just a Mom", even when that task is the most important one you will ever have.

I hope it all is as wonderful as you imagine and that you don't forget your blogfriends when you are so busy in the "real world"! Have fun!!

Dear Jennifer,
Many congratulations on the new job. I hope it's everything you're hoping for and that you won't be disappointed with the reality of a desk job (having been stuck in an office for the past 8 years, I'm thinking that translating, working from home, may not be a bad deal... ;-)
Best of luck,
Tandy xx

Thanks for everyone's well wishes. It's fun to post good news!
Carol- I interviewed for several positions, and I accepted an office manager position that is basically just me running the office. I also get to be involved in the community alot more than I am now, which is something I welcome. And my hours are 10-4. Very cool.
Fourier Analyst- it's so good to see you around again!! As for my work muscles, they've never stopped flexing, unfortunately. I've worked my way through my entire marriage and mom life... gotta pay those bills!
Hi tandy- I won't be at a desk all day, which is one of the reasons I'm so tired of translating. I hope to do both, however. I hope I can swing it
Thanks to all again.
